I've just updated this page on 12/04/24 , another day of being inspired by my class members.
After yesterday's Chair Pilates Class, one of my class members, Sue told me she thinks Pilates is really helping her. I was all ears with a big smile, i will never tire of hearing these gems of feedback.
Sue had walked around her local garden centre a few days ago. Sue had walked all the way around her garden centre ! Pain free ! On previous visits she could only walk half way around and would have to return home taking her aches & pains with her.
Sue was delighted, within just a couple of months of starting my classes. I am in the lucky position of being constantly delighted, as this is the result, always, of Pilates practice.
Also this week, one of my Zoom class members, Julia, having just had a bad fall, broken hip & hip replacement, logged in to zoom from her hospital bed, beaming from ear to ear. She said "Please use me as an example. Without Pilates i would be really struggling right now, but my core & upper body strength are keeping me mobile." Julia said the doctors could not believe her strength & predicted her recovery will be much faster than it is for most people after hip replacement. I have just spoken with Julia & she is doing her Pilates exercises from her hospital bed, keeping her mentally positive too.
Yes Pilates will stengthen & tone your entire body just like all the many other exercise classes i have taught over the past 22 years ... Body Pump, HIIT, BodyBlast, Bums & Tums, Fatburner, Boxercise etc etc ... all great classes to participate in & to teach.
But if you want more than that from your exercise class. If you want to change your life quite lierally, with increased mobility, stronger joints, reduced pain, NO pain ! Pilates is the only exercise class that can give you those results.
If you want to go for that walk without worrying how far you can go; If you want to play with your children, grandchildren rather than 'watching' them play; If you want to look younger with correct posture rather than feeling old before your time, If you want to recover quickly from injury, Pilates will deliver.
That is why Pilates is the only form of exercise i teach now. I believe it is a superior form of exercise.
The photo here is me & some of my class members practicing Pilates where it all began, in the Isle of Man, where Joseph Pilates was interned during WW2 & during that internment he created this truly life changing form of exercise. Life changing for him & for us.
